Obligatory Snow Post (Part Deux)

Lincolnshire finally got our promised dose of snow last week and though it thawed for a while it's now back with a vengeance. Bitterly cold, the snow has frozen overnight and been covered over with a fresh powdery layer this morning. I thank my lucky stars that I have a 4x4 this year rather than the Audi A4 which gave rise to my last Obligatory Snow Post

Even at the grand old age of 33, I still feel that leap of excitement when I look out of the window and see snow. I've noticed that Matt is the same (and he's even older than me!) and is often the first to exclaim 'Look! It's snowing!' I hope I never grow out of it, how wonderful that something as simple as weather can bring such unexpected joy

Everything looks so magical when covered in just a sprinkling of snow, even ordinary everyday objects are transformed into things of beauty. Our 'garden' (read 'building site') is full of bits and bobs which look messy and workaday most of the time but which become pretty in their own right on days like today

Our neighbours have one of those fabulous old lamp posts on their drive which makes it look like a pathway to Narnia! I find that the lamp lit darkness brings an even more enchanting quality to a snowy scene

Obviously the dogs always make the most of a snow day

And of course, any inclement weather outside makes being snug and cosy indoors feel even more of a treat. I'm always minded to bake when it snows, I don't know why. Maybe it's the added cosy factor that comes from wearing a pinny and hanging around the Aga while homely smells permeate the kitchen and I'm enveloped by a warm, sweet-scented fug

I have to admit that the weather doesn't help to motivate us to finish the Great Neverending House Renovation - who would choose sanding and painting over curling up by the fire with something hot and candles lit??
